UNIVERSAL GEAR BOX A fully universal gear box provides the feeds and allows a very large range of threads, without the need of changing transposing gears. Inch, metric, module, and diametral pitch threads are all selected via the conveniently located levers. Feeds can be multiplied by simply reposition the levers. Forced lubrication and built in safety clutch ensure continous and proper operation of the universal gear box.

When the operator engages feed or threading the tool travels towards the Chuck unfit a trip on the bed is activated. This signals tool retraction, a second trip then stops feed or opens leadscrew nuts. The saddle then rapid traverses back to start of cut and the tool returns to the workpiece. The operator has then to put depth of cut on for next pass and re-engage cycle. Tool withdrawal is reversible to facilitate machining of external and internal joints-operator fatigue is reduced considerably when this system is used.
